Principal & Assistant Principal

Alain Camou, Principal

Greetings Las Lomitas families and welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

In the midst of a global pandemic, my goal is to support the children and staff of Las Lomitas and ensure your children have the best education possible. With that in mind, the social emotional health and needs of your children and the staff are paramount.

This marks my sixth year as Principal of Las Lomitas and and my ninth year at our wonderful school. In all, I am entering my 23rd year in education and look forward to many years to come! As Principal of Las Lomitas, I am honored to be part of a collaborative group of educators. The Las Lomitas community has been welcoming and supportive since day one and I am excited about the work ahead of us. With the encouragement of my biggest fans, my wife who is an Assistant Principal in San Francisco and two children, I look to have a long and successful career with the Las Lomitas Elementary School District.

I take this time to share with you my philosophy on education. I firmly believe that all children can reach their full potential when we recognize their unique capabilities and provide support as needed. I hold strong to the notion that learning happens in an environment where children are encouraged and allowed to take risks. This type of environment has to be built on a bedrock of trust and respect. Relationships have to be forged in order to create a safe and nurturing environment that facilitates this type of learning. In education, relationships across the board are essential for student success. I take pride in getting to know the students, faculty, staff, parents, and community as best I can.

Our focus at Las Lomitas this year is the Zulu humanitarian philosophy of Ubuntu - I am because we are. With the support of all stakeholders, we will get through this trying time as a community. Together we are LIONS!

Sincerely,

Alain Camou, Principal
