Alain Camou Principal

Greetings Las Lomitas families and welcome to the 2018-19 school year! This marks my fourth year as Principal of Las Lomitas and and my seventh year at our wonderful school. In all, I am entering my 21st year in education and look forward to many years to come! As Principal of Las Lomitas, I am honored to be part of a collaborative group of educators. The Las Lomitas community has been welcoming and supportive since day one and I am excited about the work ahead of us. With the encouragement of my biggest fans, my wife who is an educator in San Francisco and two children, I look to have a long and successful career with the Las Lomitas Elementary School District.

Construction will continue to move forward at Las Lomitas this year. We will have our Kindergarten classrooms and parking lot complete for the first day of school. The new two story building has an expected completion date of December, and our new Administration Office will be completed in Spring 2019. The face of Las Lomitas will continue to evolve over the next 10 months and soon we will have an updated campus to call home. This year, we will also be testing out prototype schedule. I will provide opportunity for stakeholder input throughout the year.

I take this time to share with you my philosophy on education. I firmly believe that all children can reach their full potential when we recognize their unique capabilities and provide support when needed. I hold strong to the notion that learning happens in an environment where children are encouraged and allowed to take risks. This type of environment has to be built on a bedrock of trust and respect. Relationships have to be forged in order to create a safe and nurturing environment that facilitates this type of learning. In education, relationships across the board are paramount for student success. I take pride in getting to know the students, faculty, staff, parents, and community as best I can. Please stop by and say hello!
